Laser & Shockwave

Cold Laser

Cold laser therapy is a non-invasive, painless and safe method of treating adverse symptoms caused by a variety of foot and ankle conditions caused by degenerative arthritis, tendonitis, tension myalgia and many others. Otherwise known as low level laser therapy (LLLT), cold laser therapy has been successfully used in Europe for more than 35 years, and is especially popular among elite athletes. Active Foot Care Clinic and Orthotic Centre has brought cold laser therapy to our Hamilton and Brantford locations. Besides accelerated healing, our shockwave therapy provides numerous other benefits to our patients from Hamilton, Woodstock, Brantford, Dundas, Stoney Creek, Ancaster, Oakville, Simcoe, Jarvis, Port Dover, Caledonia, Cambridge, Paris, Cayuga, Milton, Flamborough, Burlington and Grimsby, and assists them in managing a wide range of ankle and foot ailments:

  • Nerve pain
  • Peripheral neuropathy
  • Heel pain
  • Ankle pain
  • Pain in the midfoot, calf, balls of feet or toes
  • Heel spurs
  • Arch pain
  • Flat feet
  • Achilles tendonitis
  • Arthritis, osteoarthritis, & rheumatoid arthritis
  • Bunion pain
  • Sports pain
  • Muscle pain
  • Bursitis
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Strains and sprains

Our cold laser therapy does not produce any long-term negative side effects, and our cold lasers do not generate any perceivable heat. In fact, most people feel nothing at all, while a few may feel a slight tingling sensation during treatment. Although very beneficial for a number of foot and ankle conditions, cold laser therapy is not a cure-all, and each patient will respond differently to treatment. The many benefits of cold laser therapy include:

  • Stimulates tissue repair & healing
  • Increases tissue strength
  • Reduces pain due to increased endorphin release
  • Reduces inflammation & swelling
  • Promotes faster wound healing
  • Stimulates nerve function
  • Reduces nerve pain
  • Promotes cellular detoxification & oxygenation
  • Activates enzymes in the targeted cells & increases ATP
  • Increases growth factor response within cells & tissues as a result of increased ATP & protein synthesis
  • Strengthens immune system response by increasing levels of lymphocyte activity
